is the Ranchu before treatment. Notice in the box that not only are the
scales lifted, there are "bubbles" protruding from underneath the scales.
The bubbles are infection under the skin that have formed a fluid contained
blister.
TREATMENT A scrape showed no evidence of parasites. The fish was put into a hospital tank with its own filtration and NO SALT. The temperature of the water was increased from 78oF to 86oF in 1 day, and 1/8 teaspoon of epsom salts per 5 gallons added. The fish was fed romet B antibiotic food for a month. When the blisters erupted after about 5 days in isolation, I used a single treatment with oxolinic acid. 3 days later, a complete water change was done to remove all the oxolinic as it then becomes toxic for the fish. |
