Sick dogs are a challenge. I hid pills in "pill pockets", wrapped in various choice foods and eventually he was refusing to eat anything I offered by hand. I tried "shoving them down his throat" but it is difficult in a little dog and mine can get pretty nasty at such rough behavior. I finally decided to suspend the pills in water and give by syringe. I needed a reliable method for grinding those pills and half pills up. Being a scientist I immediately thought of mortar and pestle, but too much of the medicine would end up in and one the not so smooth surface, so I tried the "two spoon" method and did that over a shot glass. It worked great. See the movie below. ADDENDUM: two tablespoons works better

Next was feeding my little guy enough food to keep him going. I chose pumpkin (pure, not pie filling) for its stool forming ability (and carbs) and yogurt for the good bacteria, protein and digestibility. I add "goatein" which is pure goat milk protein which is soluble and digestible. I mix those, add a little water and warm the contents (sit the glass in a container of hot water). In the second video I show how to dose the liquid meds and feed the food. He actually does eat it readily (the other dogs go nuts for it). It seems the more I feed him the more likely he is to eat his "regular" food in the evening which is raw ground whole chicken legs with a spoon of cottage cheese and a few slices of hot dog w/cheese on the side. He is doing pretty well on it for a 16 year old.
