In 2001 I built a planter from pine bead board. I glued 2 -3 boards together and nailed them into 2 x 2 studs in each corner. I made the boxes to fit on each step. They are not a single unit. At first I made 3 boxes and added a fourth later.

The concrete
step is higher than the first paver and has an edge. Rather than have people
trip over the step I decided to put a planter there. First was the
tub.
