4x4 posts are 8 feet high (I think) and set 8 feet apart. |
2. 2 x 4s are channeled to accept the lattice. The bottom rail is leveled and screwed to the post from below. The sides of the frame are screwed to the posts thru the channel. The lattice is lowered into the frame and the top rail screwed down. |
3. The top rail is leveled and screwed to the posts. The individual 2x2 pieces are cut to fit and screwed top and bottom. |
4.
The 4x4 post are cut
on the top at 45o angles to leave a 2x4 top edge. Then the 2x4 top rail is drilled and carriage bolted into the post. |
5.
45o angle wood "corners" are screwed to the posts to support the 1 x 8
plank "roofs". In the middle are double 45o angle blocks screwed
to the bottom of the 2x4 to support the middle
of the roof section. The ends are capped. The cedar shakes have not been put on yet in the picture of the fence. I am pleased that the fence looks so much like the design. The actual fence has wire fencing behind it to keep out the critters. |
Details of the end, showing the corner suport and the end cap moved out of the way and below the end. |
